Dimapur, April 20 (EMN): Congratulating the civil servants on the occasion of National Civil Servants Day, the Governor of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh P.B. Acharya exhorted civil servants to become agents of change in their respective organisations and departments.
The Governor said the Government of India had taken a decision to observe the 21st of April every year as Civil Services Day as an occasion for civil servants to rededicate themselves to the cause of citizens and renew their commitment to public service and excellence in work.
Stating that efficiency and effectiveness in the developmental administration is the major need of the hour, he reminded the civil servants to remember that they are not just doing a Job but a service to the common man individually and collectively. People look upon the civil servants for resolution of their issues, he added.
The Governor held that civil servants are the pillars of development and the backbone of the Government and encouraged them to be proactive and work for the cause without any discrimination.
Wishing civil servants the best in service of the people and Nation, Governor pointed out that they have to be loyal to the Constitution of India. “This also means that our Civil Service has to take the ownership of the public action they are doing and the public assets they are creating,” he quoted.
