Dimapur, May 16 (EMN): State governor, PB Acharya, has appreciated the family members of Dr. Neilhouzhü Kire for announcing ‘a one-time grant’ awards for topper in the High School Living Certificate (HSLC) in commemoration of late Kire’s 100 years of matriculation. A press note from the Raj Bhavan informed on Wednesday.

The governor has also expressed happiness to learn about the family in adopting the Government High School in the name of Dr. Neilhouzhü Kire. He termed such undertaking as a ‘wonderful social responsibility,’ on the part of the family.

Acharya has also appreciated the idea of awarding the toppers of Tenyidie saying, ‘mother tongue is the identity of an individual and one should protect and promote it.’

In the vein, Acharya has appreciated the Faith Harvest Church for adopting Government High School in PWD Colony, Kohima, as part of their community social service.

He has congratulated the youth of the church in organising a social work in the school premises and remarked that such service should be appreciated by all. Acharya hoped that Faith Harvest Church would continue the good work for the community in future.

Meanwhile, Acharya has called upon the youth to give back to the society of their learning in order to improve the society in all fronts.

‘Youth should have the drive for development of the society through new and innovative projects. Young people should be game changers,’ Acharya added.

He has appealed to all the educated ladies and housewives to come forward and share their empowerment in government schools. He was also of the view that such contributions would add value and strengthen the academic system.

The governor has also suggested the women folk to take up subjects like math, Science, English, etc as honorary guest teachers with the permission of the department.

The governor further added that his wife Kavita Acharya has adopted the Officer’s Hill Government Middle School in Kohima, where she attends classes as an honorary guest teacher.
