Dimapur, Jan. 18 (EMN): In expressing solidarity with the All India Government Drivers’ Federation (AIGDF), state unit of All Nagaland Government Drivers’ Association (ANGDA) undertook a ‘shanti march’ starting from its office in Themezie, High School Road, to Nagaland Secretariat on January 18.
Stating this in a press release, ANGDA president Nevisietuo Rino said the All Nagaland Government Drivers’ Association had undertaken the march to protest against non fulfilment of the drivers’ grievances.
The nation-wide ‘shanti march’ was undertaken under the aegis of the All India Government Driver’s Federation. The members marched from its office at 10 a.m. and converged at Nagaland Civil Secretariat.
The members have been demanding creation of one vehicle inspector post in the entire directorate and all the deputy commissioners’ office. The members are also demanding equal scale of pay and allowances of the head drivers at par with the assistant superintendent scale in the directorate. It further demanded that the assistant transport office post in the Nagaland Civil Secretariat should be filled up only from the cadre of the government drivers.
