GoI institutes ‘Kabir Puraskar’ Award

Dimapur, April 17 (EMN): Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has informed that the central government had instituted a national award designated as “Kabir Puraskar” for honouring persons who have work for promotion of communal harmony and national integration.
The award will be given in three Grades namely Grade-I, Grade-II and Grade-III with a cash amount of Rs 2,00,000, Rs l,00,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively along with a citation. The objective behind the award is to commend conspicuous acts of physical/moral courage and humanity exhibited by member(s) of one community, caste or ethnic group in saving lives and properties of the member(s) of another community, caste or ethnic group during communal, caste or ethnic violence.The names of awardees are announced every year on October 2. Therefore, the Ministry has requested to send nominations for the year 2017 latest by May 15 of only such persons who fulfil the criteria for the award of the scheme.
The recommendations should invariably be accompanied by a brief note on the specific acts of physical/ moral courage displayed by the nominee along with certificate about his/her character, antecedents and other activities.
