Dimapur, Nov. 8: Danielle Zara Sharma (19) from Dimapur is one of the two students from India chosen by their respective management colleges to compete in the 11th edition of The Hyatt Student Prize in Paris in December.

Danielle, who is pursuing her honours degree from the Institute of Hotel Management, Aurangabad told Eastern Mirror that she has been picked to represent her institute following a review of the students’ overall performance in the last 3 years based on merit, recommendations from faculty members, and principal’s observation.

The award was launched by Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in 2008 where the world’s most prestigious hotel management schools and their students participate in an event where only a limited invites are sent out across the world.

Eight students from across the world are set to be chosen by a jury of experts and resource persons from the world of hospitality, luxury, business, sports and literature, according to Danielle. “We had to complete a series of certain assignments which were sent by the organisation,” she said, adding that she donned the Ao traditional attire for a video they made for the competition. She informed that the jury will declare the results on Nov. 12.

The primary objective of the award is to present an innovative award to the most talented student of the international hospitality industry, said Danielle, also an alumna of Mayo School where she also represented Rajasthan for the state’s cricket team as a bowler for five consecutive years.

She informed that the eight finalists will be invited to the final phase of the competition organised at the Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile in December.
