Warning against ‘plunder’ and bloodshed

Dimapur, May 18 : A simple affirmation of promised solutions for the vexed Naga political is not sufficient to placate the ground realities of the Naga peoples or the problems they have had to face and have been facing, community leaders have said.
The emergence of myriad underground factions, history itself and the consequences on the Naga people today should be a reminder not to take ‘ground realities’ for granted, the Gaon Buras have said.
The Nagaland GBs’ Federation met on May 18 at Hotel Saramati, the organization stated in a press release to the media on Wednesday. The organization has cautioned that any “political plunder leading to bloodshed” will not be tolerated.
The fact that the doubts and anxiety of the Naga people are only natural because of the political issue had become more complex because of the emergence of numerous underground factions, the GBs stated.
‘While urging for peace and unity, there are certain points which need to be addressed before initiating the mission,’ the GBs stated.

“The Naga’s decades old problem has become more complex because of emergence of numerous factions.  And the federation felt that it is only rational to have doubts and apprehension amongst Nagas in view of what our Naga socio-political affair had witnessed in the past, and the consequences for which we have all been facing till today,” the organization reminded.
“And hence, any another political blunder leading to bloodshed cannot be tolerated by the Nagas. Therefore, understanding the ground realities is very essential to solve the Naga’s problem. The Naga political groups have not emerged overnight; it was the culmination of all Naga’s dream for a politically liberalized society, free from all outside forces.”
The GBs’ organization said further that the “Naga customary law and tradition,” under which article 371(A) was “founded on,” were the ‘outcome of our forefathers’ rich culture and legacies which were carried on without wavering.’
The GBs stated: “Today’s Naga political issue stands of ‘uniqueness of Naga history’ is being preserved by the Naga customary law custodian and guardian with their sacrifices till today.   Since efforts of initiative actions taken by various organizations to solve our issue have passed or concluded without any fruitful result. So unless we are united, our Naga political issue will have problem.”
The Nagaland GBs’ Federation has appealed to all sections of the Naga communities, “from grass-root level such as village councils, tribal hohos, and all the frontal organizations of Nagaland to join hand with us” to create a platform that would facilitate “amicable solution based on understanding, spirit of love and unity, excepting the ground realities and work out towards our common goal.”
