Dimapur, March 28 (EMN): Cross examination of witnesses in the fuel adulteration case which was supposed to take place on Tuesday has been adjourned to May 2 and 3 by chief judicial magistrate Ajongba Imchen due to the ongoing pen-down strike called by the Confederation of All Nagaland State Services Employees’ Association (CANSSEA).

After the chargesheet was filed in October 2016, the first cross examination of witnesses was held in December 2016 and the second hearing was scheduled in the month of February 2017.

However owing to the bandh, the members of ACAUT Nagaland were summoned to appear before the Court of district & sessions judge, Dimapur as witnesses in the fuel adulteration case on Tuesday.

The case had hit Nagaland in June 2016 when ACAUT Nagaland busted the fuel adulteration units and two chargesheets were filed – GR 585/16 under Diphupar Police station and GR 581/16 under West Police station. As per the public prosecutor Hutoi Yeptho under GR 581/16 there are 26 witnesses which includes police personnel, ACAUT members and independent members; under GR 585/16 there are 42 witnesses.
