Dimapur, June 14 (EMN): The central executive council of Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) has asked the government of India to expedite the process of carving a separate state (Frontier Nagaland) out of the present eastern districts of Nagaland.
According to a press release from the organisation on Friday, it had decided to abstain from participating in Indian Independence Day celebration if the government fails to respond to its demand by August 10.
This was decided during a meeting of the union’s CEC held on June 11 and 12 in Tuensang. It also reaffirmed the ENPO’s December 18, 2007 resolution that there would be “no bloodshed, threat, intimidation or any form of violence within ENPO jurisdiction.”
This was the fifth affirmation of the resolution since its adoption. The meeting was attended by members of the central executive council (CEC) and frontal organisations, elected members from eastern Nagaland and representatives from different Naga political groups (NPGs) of eastern Nagaland region, the statement said.
