Kohima, June 12 (EMN): A free heart-screening camp organised by the National Health Mission Nagaland (NHM) in collaboration with Sky Hospital & Research Centre, Imphal was held on Monday at Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima (NHAK) where patients from different districts availed free heart screening.
T Rajiv Singh, IT Manager, Sky Hospital & Research Centre Pvt. Ltd, Imphal said Sky Hospital has been empanelled with Nagaland government as well as with the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK). With this, he said Sky Hospitals will be conducting free heart check-up for children below the age of 18 years. Children with congenital heart disease will also be treated at Sky Hospital, Imphal, he added.

Dr. Khriesi, Nodal Officer state RBSK, said RBSK was a child health screening and early intervention services programme to provide comprehensive care to all children between the age of 0-18 years in the community.

The objective was to improve quality of children’s life through early detection of birth defects, diseases, deficiencies, developmental delays and disabilities, he said.
He also informed that all children between the age group of 0-18 years who were diagnosed would receive follow-up referral support and treatment including surgical intervention free of cost as per RBSK modal costing.
Also, he added that congenital heart disease has a prevalence rate of 0/1000 live births and Nagaland was expected to have about 250 such cases.
