Forest minister pays offices in Dimapur a visit

Dimapur, March 17 (EMN): Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change & Parliamentary Affairs, CM Chang paid a visit to Nagaland Pollution Control Board on March 17 and interacted with the officers and staff of the board. A press release received on Saturday informed.
The minister also visited air and water laboratories, library and the paper recycling unit and observed how the air and water samples are collected, analysed and highlighted to the public to create awareness.
During the informal programme held in the board’s conference hall, Chairman Ramesh Aima welcomed the gathering.
Member Secretary Rusovil John highlighted responsibilities, activities and functions of the board, constraints and achievements.
The minister in his address said that the purpose of his visit was to observe and get first-hand experience, functioning of the board and to discuss how improvements may be made.
Various issues such as climate change, air and water pollution, coal mining and solid waste management were discussed during the meeting.
Chang also shared his experiences as a government employee and encouraged the officers and staff to work harder so as to serve the public better by bringing about a better environment in the state.
Also, the minister along with Aima, member secretary of Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB), paid a visit to the State Environment & Forestry Training Institute (SEFTI), Dimapur, on March 17 and interacted with the Forester-I trainees, faculties and staffs of the institute.
The Director of SEFTI chaired the occasion and delivered the welcome address.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister encouraged the forester trainees to avail the training opportunity to the fullest in order to bring forth their capabilities as efficient officers of the department. He stated that one should try to acquire knowledge and not feel shy in the process.
Aima also motivated the gathering with his vast training experience.
An informal discussion was held, where opinions and grievances were shared with the minister. The minister on his first visit to the institute presented an optimistic view that his ministry along with the departmental officials would try to bring out the best in the department.
