Dimapur, October 25: With the advent of Amur Falcon to the State, dubbed as the world capital of Amur Falcon, Forest Department, Dimapur division, has launched campaign to promote eco-tourism particularly on Amur falcon bird watching.
In a first kind of its own, Dimapur Forest Division launched its website www.dimapurforest.in and facebook page www.facebook.com/dimapurforest to promote Eco-tourism on Amur Falcon bird watching.
Considering the presence of eco-tourism in Nagaland being minimal despite its vast potential and the jobs it could create for the local populace, Dimapur Forest Division started promotion of eco-tourism through an innovative digital campaign through their Project 3Ds (Digitising Dimapur Division) initiated recently by Rajkumar M under the guidance of Ihevi Aomi.
Under Project 3Ds, Dimapur division signed MoU with various Universities and software start-ups, who helped the division in getting their digital needs. It also provides avenue for young software professionals to work for the government as well. This website was launched as part of the Project 3Ds which was developed by students of SJIT, an engineering college in Chennai.Speaking on the occasion, Rajkumar said the only hurdle in the promotion of Eco-tourism in Nagaland is the lack of information to the tourists. He felt that digital promotion will be the long term solution to overcome this hurdle.
He was happy that more youngsters are joining this initiative voluntarily from various parts of the country. He expected a ‘paper free’ government office within a decade.
DFO, Dimapur, Ihevi Aomi, who launched the website, invited bird watchers around the world to witness ‘this great migration event’ in Dimapur. He also mentioned the potentiality of developing Dimapur into a eco-tourism hub because of its excellent connectivity with nearby cities.
He also congratulated Project 3Ds team which comprised of Rajkumar, Forest Ranger Vivika Sema, and other officers and staffs of Dimapur, who have worked hard for the initiative.
With the Amur Falcons already started arriving in various parts of Nagaland, it hoped that this campaign will help promote eco-tourism in this part of country and create more livelihood options for the villagers.
