First round training for polling personnel conducted at kiphire, Zunheboto, Peren

Dimapur, May 17 (EMN): The first round training for the polling personnel was conducted at the districts’ of Kiphire, Zunheboto, and Peren. This was in view of the forthcoming Lok Sabha by-election of Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency 2018 scheduled to be held on May 28. A press release from the department of Information and Public Relations informed on Thursday.
Kiphire: The first round training for first, second, third, and fourth presiding officers and polling officers was held at the Government Higher Secondary School in Kiphire on May 17 and 18th.
The additional deputy commisioner (ADC) of Seyochung Nchumbemo said the district was compelled to request manpower from the state capital in the last state general election. However, he added that the district will manage on its own this time.
ADC urged all the head of offices not to ask for any exemption unless a person is in sick bed. He also informed that teachers and lecturers will be detailed for polling duty. Grade IV staffs who were detailed for domestic purpose during polling were informed to give their attendance during office hour.
Further, Nchumbemo has urged the presiding officers to sincerely work and rectify the polling materials properly while submitting. He directed that any absentees during the training will be given an explanation call.
The second round training for Kiphire district’s polling personnel will be conducted on May 21 and 22nd, the update added.
Zunheboto: The district’s first round of training for polling personnel was held on May 16 at the Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) in Zunheboto. The training was organised for second, third, and fourth Polling Officers.
It was informed that the Election Duty Certificate facility will be available for service voters, and polling officials can cast their vote at their duty places.
The second and third round of training for second, third, and fourth polling officer will be held on May 23 and 24th. While the same round of training for presiding, and first polling officer will be held on May 22 and 24th at GHSS in Zunheboto from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Peren: With the rest of the districts, Peren conducted its first phase of training for presiding officers and first polling officers at Old Peren town hall on May 17.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Sarita Yadav said the training was like a ‘refresher course’ since the state general election was successfully conducted a couple of months back. She appealed to the trainees to inform their colleagues to turn up.
It was also informed that medical examination for exemption of election by the medical board will be held on May 21. She directed that there will be two phase training for Peren district. The whole state being a constituency, Election Duty Certificate will be used instead of postal ballot system, she added.
