Firing on security: Phesama village denounces ‘terrorism’

Not afraid of calling it ‘terrorism’, Phesama village, in Kohima district has lashed out at unidentified gunmen responsible for firing on a convoy of security forces on May 29, Friday. Gunmen are reported to have fired on a convoy of security force personnel when it was passing through an area under the village’s jurisdiction. “The Phesama Village Council vehemently condemned the miscreants firing on the army convoy within its jurisdiction on 29thMay 2015 while they are on their usual convoy to Imphal. The PVC is perplexed to which underground faction is responsible and what hidden motive is there to disturbed the peaceful atmosphere of the area and creating fear psychosis in the minds of its people,” the council stated in a note issued to the media on Friday.
Warning that “such a senseless desperate cowardice act should not be repeated in future”, the council said Nagas are tired of violence and now striving for peace. The council also urged “every civilized responsible citizen” to denounce “such kind of terrorism”.
The council declared that “the responsible faction will not be cooperated” in the future.
Warns against obstructing development
The Phesama Village Council has also warned that no individual or group should obstruct works that would be undertaken to pave a two-lane highway that will pass through the village’s land. The council issued a statement on the matter on Friday.
“The Phesama Village Council have learnt that 2 lane National Highway road is supposed to pass through its jurisdiction. Therefore, the council has passed a resolution that no individual or group shall obstruct the task to be carried out by the concern department/ agencies in this connection,” the council state din its press release. The village has requested the department in concern to get in touch with the village’s authority “for better co-operation, survey activities etc”.
In other matters, the council has reaffirmed its ‘standing order’ against “dumping of earth and garbages within its jurisdiction”. The activity is strictly prohibited, the council stated and warned that defaulters would be penalized and strictly be dealt with. Further, “illegal taping of water or selling water in any form is strictly prohibited therefore if any person is indulging in this should cease immediately,” the council added.
