Financial aid given to Padmashree Awardee of KA

Diphu, March 17 (EMN): An amount of NIR 1 lakh was handed over to Prof. Rongbong Terang, Padmashree Awardee at his residence in Diphu on March 17 as financial aid through the state government for medical treatment.
The cheque was handed over by Howraghat MLA Joyram Engleng in the presence of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Chief Executive Member (CEM), Tuliram Ronghang, Deputy Chairman Ritesh Enghi, EMs KAAC Prodeep Rongpi, Amarsing Tisso and MAC Lunsing Teron.
Addressing to media persons CEM said that earlier on behalf of KAAC INR 1.50 lakh has been bestowed for medical treatment. Ronghang assured that a mini library building through KAAC will be constructed at the residence of Padmshree of Rongbong Terang for preserving of books, magazine, mementos received by Dr. Terang where one can read and borrow books of Dr. Terang’s collected materials.
Mention can also be made that Dr. Terang was the first Padmashree Awardee among the Karbi community. He was the President of Assam Sahitya Sabha for 4 years from 2009-2012 and he was also a founder secretary of Karbi Lammet Amei (a literary body of the Karbi).
