Manipur based proscribed outfit United National Liberation Front (UNLF) said that the final settlement with the NSCN (IM) should be confined within Nagaland and it should not be involved with Manipur.
“India’s move to use Manipur as a scapegoat in its effort to settle the issues with NSCN (IM) by signing a framework accord is the most awful development”, said a 4-paged press statement signed by Kh Pambei, Chairman Military Affairs Committee of UNLF which was released in connection with 29th Raising Day of the outfit’s armed wing-Manipur People’s Army (MPA). The UNLF said it will face any consequences in association with the people if India fails to understand the wishes of the people.
MPA which is the armed wing of the outfit has completed 29 years of formation on February 9, 2016, according to the statement.
Saying that all internal issues of Manipur can be settled amicably among the ethnic communities, the statement said the divide and rule policy of the government of India has created cracks among the different communities and subsequently it ‘affects the unity of the land’.
“The divide and rule policy of the Government of India which is guided by a nefarious design to draw unbridgeable lines of division among ethnic communities of Manipur has thrown a serious challenge to the unity of the masses,” it stated. Immigrants have started posing a serious challenge to the identity, culture and economy of the indigenous people thereby breeding a deep rooted sense of insecurity among the people, the statement added.
It then said time has come to closely monitor the changes in Manipur during its 67 years of being under India.
