Dimapur, Dec. 01 (EMN): The Dimapur Urban Council Chairman Federation ( DUCCF) on Friday voiced out against the proposed transfer of Police Commissioner Limasunep Jamir citing that he has proved his mettle since taking charge as the top cop of the district.
“Dimapur Urban Council Chairman Federation ( DUCCF) expresses it’s displeasure at the government for the proposed transfer of the Commissioner of Police Dimapur. The proposed transfer of Shri Limasunep Jamir IPS within a year is totally uncalled for. Shri Jamir was brought in at the worst time of law and order situation and he has proved his mantle[sic] in delivering goods,” stated a press release from the federation of the Dimapur urban council chairmen.
It stated that at a time when the present commissioner had ‘gained the experience’ and built the trust and confidence of the public and all organisations, transferring him only after a short stint will be a great loss for all.
It stated that Dimapur being the commercial city with critical law and order situations to handle, the law enforcing agency needs a stable and an experienced commissioner.
While condemning the act of the government as immature and questionable it also stated that such shuffling and transfer at ‘whims and fancy’ before completion of minimum required term and also just before state elections, indicates the ‘vested interest of the ruling political party’.
“Sincere public officials must not be used as pawns in the dirty political game. Therefore, in the larger interest of the public, the Federation urge the government to immediately cancel the transfer plan of Shri Limasunep Jamir IPS and allow the Commissioner of Police to complete the minimum requisite term,” the federation demanded.
