Extortion letter to nonexistent union in Mokokchung

Dimapur, April 22: The extortion bid of INR 10,00,000 rejected recently by the Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) was addressed to the “Marwari Traders Union,” according to an MCCI source.
No such union exists in Mokokchung, the source told Eastern Mirror on Monday. “It means the particular faction do not know that the union is nonexistent (in Mokokchung),” said the source. Other than the ‘business community’ comprising traders of different religion, caste and creed there are no other traders’ union in Mokokchung, he said. According to him, the ‘demand letter’ bore the name of the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagaland (GPRN), which he pointed out, could be any group. The letter was issued on March 25, 2019.
