We claimed to be Christians but we often exhibit unchristian life. Christians are followers of Jesus Christ but we tend to forget that through Christ, God became flesh and became part and parcel of our daily life. We made Jesus Christ relevant to our prayers and worshiping life alone. We live different life inside and outside the Church as if God dwells only in the church buildings. We speak one thing and do another thing. We confessed to be born again Christians but ‘walk the talk’ is often missed out from our daily life. We know so much about Jesus but live out very little of him. Let us not forget that Christians must demonstrate faith in Christ through daily life. Therefore when you become rich, as Christians, be a cheerful giver even as Jesus sacrificed everything for you and me. Know that all riches come from God. We did not bring anything to this earth. We came to this earth naked. Hoarding of material things is a cause of hunger for millions of people. Accumulation of wealth in the form of money or land or forest or fields beyond necessity is not a virtue of a good Christian.
When you get a handsome salaried job, as Christians, do not be happy thinking of owning latest cars or luxurious buildings or getting the most eligible life partner. Rather be happy knowing that God is providing you an opportunity to serve people especially the poor and illiterate people. Love your job. Be faithful to your vocation. Serve people with humility.
When you become lawyers, as Christians, thank God for giving you platform to raise voice and defend the helpless. Stand for the cause of the weak, the orphans and the widows. Do not frame poor people to get money or gain favour from the rich and powerful. Stand for just cause and make this world a beautiful place to live in.
When you become a doctor, as Christians, think that you are working with God in saving life. Fear God and do not give different treatment-one to the rich and another to the poor. Life is once for all and all lives are equally important. Talk politely to the patients because they are sick mentally and physically. They need comfort. Let others see the goodness of Jesus in you.
When you become political leaders, as Christians, thank God for giving you platform to bring development to society. Be not anxious of getting fame or popularity. Do not live like a King and Queen. Never forget that you are elected by your people and you are there for their welfare. Keep the door open for all those who need your help. Resist the temptation of accepting bribe and giving job only to your relatives and party members. Keep aside party spirit but attend to the real needs of the society.
When you become an army/police officer, as Christians, do not treat your juniors like a slave. Use your weapons to maintain law and order but not to create disorderliness by harassing and killing the innocents. Guard in your check post for disciplining those black marketers but not for extortion.
When you become contractors or engineers, as Christians, do not draw the whole bill before you complete the work. The quality of your work will reflect the kind of God you worship.
When you become rich traders/businessman, as Christians, do not cheat people by using unjust weigh or measurement. Serve people with gladness not just for profit.
When you become a renowned preacher, writer or a professional singer, as Christians, thank God for the gift. Use them to glorify God. Do not become proud for pride has no place in the service of God.
Friends, God can be served only through loving and serving our fellow beings. Our vocation (profession) may be small or great but let us be faithful to it and demonstrate our faith in action. Humility, loving, caring, forgiving and serving others are the basic characters of Christ. If we do not have a pinch of Christ-like character in us, then we are not worthy to be called Christian. Wake up each new day to help others but not seeking to extract from others. In this way, exhibit a bit of Christianly life imitating Jesus Christ and obtain abundant life, peace and happiness.
