Dimapur, Dec. 6 (EMN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU ) on Dec. 6 hosted black flags within the premises of governmental offices in Kohima and colleges in the eastern areas as a form of protest against the non release of post-matric scholarship.
“Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU ) hosted black flags in protest against the Government of Nagaland and the Department of Higher Education in Kohima and in four Eastern Colleges for non release of full scholarship amount. The protest passed off successfully with students participating actively to send a strong resentment to the Government and the Department of Higher Education,” stated a press release from the union.
It added that the ENCSU is committed to ‘fight’ until ‘justice’ is delivered and the due share of the scholarship is released in full and questioned the government why the truth about the matter is withheld.
“The ENCSU ask why the Government and the Department is still confidently hiding the wrong instead of admitting and coming up with the truth, and clarify in print media so that people see the clear picture.”
The unions also gave an ultimatum to the government and the department concerned to release scholarships in full by Dec. 8. along with the unspent balance of ‘2.8 Cr for the year 2015-16’ that the department has stated in the utilisation certificate to the ministry.
It also urged the government and the department to respond within two days.
