Dimapur, Dec. 15 (EMN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) has made a final call to the Department of Higher Education to release full scholarship to the students as per the assurance given by the State chief secretary on December 7.

In a joint statement, ENCSU president M Longre Chang and the general secretary Wangnei C Jessuhu have asked the State government to reveal SIT report. It questioned the Government as to why it was trying to save those involved in the misuse of scholarship despite setting up of SIT to catch the errand officials. ENCSU reminded the State government that the very purpose of setting up of SIT would be just a mockery if it cannot come out straight. It asked the state government to go ahead and file a criminal case against those involved.

ENCSU has demanded to know as to why the government cannot come up with clear SIT report even after the government themselves had admitted during the cabinet meeting that the PMS fund had been misused by the department. ENCSU reiterated that it would not compromise or sit silent even if the government fail to deliver justice.

ENCSU warned to initiate its own course of action if the state government fails to meet its just demand. Stating that it has all the facts and findings, ENCSU has appealed the government to do what is just and hold accountable of those people responsible for misuse of PMS.

In the light of the above stated circumstances, ENCSU urged the SIT to present its findings as it is without any biases so that the people would know the whole truth.

ENCSU has also asked the department concerned to clarify as to how the department could upload the total beneficiaries of students on their official website when some students were yet to receive the first quarter of scholarship amount. ENCSU also expressed concern as to on what ground the Secretary of Higher and Technical Education had sent ‘Grand in aid’ of the actual number of scholarship beneficiaries for the year 2016-17 amounting INR 14,93,33,00 to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs whereas 1143 students were in error list following transactions issues.
