Education dept. conducts second phase of ‘Gunotsav’

Diphu, Oct. 12 (EMN): The second phase of the third day of Gunotsav conducted by the elementary education department, got underway in Diphu from Tuesday.
Former Superintendent of Police (SP) of Karbi Anglong, Anurag Tankha, IPS and now IGP, (Special Branch) , Assam has conducted evaluation of learning ability of students under Gunotsov in D. A. V Higher Secondary school for class 6 to 8 here on Thursday.
As an external evaluator of Gunotsav in DAV Higher Secondary school Tankha conducted evaluation on english, assamese subject with Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), reading, writing and Numeracy skill for the students of class 6-8. And also visited surrounding of the school and checked lavatory of the school, infrastructure of a school.
DAV school is one of the oldest English higher secondary school in Karbi Anglong located at Diphu Town, was established in 1969. The total students enrolment in the school from class 6 to 12 total of 1062 students of which 42 teaching staffs are painstaking for these students. 90% of the students were very economically backward.The scenario of students besides the school has no proper toilet for male and female teachers, less specious of staff common room, water facilities need be improve, Debo Dutta Deka, Principal narrated their grievance before this reporter.
Moreover, students Parliamentary General Secretary, Aphrang Ronghang also informed that there is no teachers for economic and political science for several years for class 11 and 12 in Arts stream.
IGP conducting the evaluation said that, the lower level of the students need to improve for better learning in higher classes, academic as well as infrastructure has to be improve. Shortage of teachers that also need to be improve and separate dining hall should be constructed for providing mid day meal to the student community.
