Dimapur, July 24 (EMN): The Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation today came out with its version of the events leading to the current friction with the GPRN/NSCN in reply to the demand that was made by the NPG which was carried in the local papers on Monday.
The press release from the federation stated that, “It is pertinent to mention that all previous communications with the GPRN/ NSCN functionary had been cordial on the outside but there’s no denying that Federation members felt the brunt of pressure to pay up.
Also, it has to be clarified that the meeting held with the officials of GPRN/NSCN on 16/7/2017 at the residence of the President DUCCF, which proceeded in a cordial manner transformed into a different atmosphere when GPRN official openly declared in the meeting that those who are not willing to pay the tax should raise up their hand and they shall be taken to their camp where they shall be made to explain to their superiors the reason for refusal to pay tax.
It also so happened that in the midst of the proceeding of the meeting some Indian security forces arrived and informed us that certain personnel of NPG are present in the meeting and they would like to meet them which we however denied.”
The DUCCF further stated that it stands by the Naga public resolution of “One Govt One tax” and that the rationale behind this mandate is for “all the factions to come under one united National Movement.”
The DUCCF also stated that it is fully in support of any process that proceeds with the mandate of the Nagas.
“Therefore, based on the voice of the Nagas the DUCCF had to function. Moreover, the same had been reiterated by an order issued by district administration. And DUCCF being a registered body had to comply with administration directives. Hence, collection of taxes should be put to rest once and for all,” the press release further added.
