Mokokchung, Jan. 17 (EMN): Retired additional development commissioner, Dr. Temsuwati, has declared his candidature to contest in the ensuing state general election from the 27 Mokokchung town assembly constituency.
Declaring his candidature on January 17, Dr. Temsuwati stated that he would contest the ensuing election with the manifesto ‘employment and development.’
Addressing the public of 27 Mokokchung town constituency, Dr. Temsuwati said he is going to contest the ensuing state election without any political party colour. Dr. Temsuwati, however, has resolved to go by the decision of the people on the matter relating to the political party.
He had planned to contest from BJP ticket in the coming election. However, the plan was dropped following opposition from his followers contesting from BJP ticket.
Dr. Temsuwati also revealed that he chose Mokokchung town constituency because he wanted to bring changes to the people and made the constituency into a model.
Saying that Mokokchung town constituency has lot of intellectuals, politicians, government officials and a place where different communities live together, he asserted that people would understand the changes that he wanted to bring.
Dr Temsuwati has urged the voters to give him the chance for the next year as their representative adding, ‘if I am elected I will bring funds to initiate development projects for the people of Mokokchung district and the Mokokchung town.’
Dwelling on the context of employment, Dr. Temsuwati stated that social problems would continue increasing unless there is an adequate job avenue for the unemployed youth. In this regard, he has advocated enacting special employment policy which would be assisted by the district planning board to provide avenues to the genuine educated unemployed youth.
If elected, Dr. Temsuwati has planned to bring externally added projects and other centrally sponsored programmes in the state instead of relying on LADP.
The 27 Mokokchung town constituency consists of five wards namely Mongsenbai, Kumlong, Aongza, Kichutip and Salangtem and has a total of more than 7000 voters. Currently, C Apok Jamir, parliamentary secretary of Tourism, represents the Mokokchung town constituency.
