Dr. Nicky advocates unity for better society

KOHIMA, OCTOBER 22: Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, today advocated love and respect towards fellowmen to ensure prevalence of unity for a better society.
Addressing the silver jubilee celebration of Lower Agri Colony Ward Colony in Kohima today held on the theme ‘Looking beyond unity,’ Dr. Kire encouraged the colony residents to continue working in unity for the betterment of the colony. He said jubilee should be, most importantly, a time to introspect and retrospect and to forgive each other and look forward for a better tomorrow.
Dr. Kire spoke on the recently launched central scheme ‘Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA)’ and encouraged the colony people to introduce it in their homes and colony which will directly or indirectly contribute towards energy efficiency and will aid in the fight against climate change.He mentioned the various activities undertaken by the colony such as construction of waiting shed and ATM-cum-toilet and said these amenities will be useful and convenient for use by the general public. Dr. Kire also said everyone should contribute towards the betterment of the colony according to one’s capacity. He encouraged the youngsters to be self-employed and not depend on government jobs but to work hard and go forward in unity.
Exhortation was delivered by Er. Lima Ozukum, wherein he attributed the concerted efforts of colony members for the achievements. He further urged the members to continue striving towards betterment of the colony by moving forward in unity so that the colony will serve as an example for others colonies.
Convenor of Jubilee Planning Committee, Neikhozo Suokhrie, acknowledged the pioneers of the colony, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, council members and colony members for their contributions for making the programme a grand success.
Opening song was presented by the jubilee choir, while short speech was delivered by A Tsenchamo Lotha, GB Lower Agri Colony Ward Council.
Dr. Neikiesalie Kire also released the jubilee souvenir, while a special numbers were presented by Surhiveyi (male voice I/c Temjen Ozukum) and a solo by Ketholeno Kikon. N Abong Pongener, Secretary Planning Committee, delivered the vote of thanks.
