Kohima, June 30 (EMN): Chief Minister Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu on Friday released a book, “My Birthday Adventure,” written by a 9-year old Suiyikai H Ndang. The book was released here at the chief minister’s residential office on June 30.
The media cell of the Chief Minister’s Office issued a note informing about the event.
Terming the book a ‘significant milestone in the history of Nagaland,’ the chief minister congratulated the boy for his publication and ‘creativity.’
“I am moved going through the book and happy to release the book that a young Naga boy had written such a wonderful adventure book,” Dr. Liezietsu said.
The chief minister, who has written more than 40 books, said that writing a book requires peace of mind, motivation, and encouragement. He appealed to the parents of the young writer to support their child in every possible way.
If such a young boy can write a book at this age, he can be a treasure for the Nagas one day, the chief minister asserted.
Also, the publisher of the book, Dr. Easterine Kire, well known poet and writer, said in her remarks that the book represented the author’s imagination, a child’s fantasy on his birthday. She expressed happiness to have published this children’s book by the child writer.
Kire explained that the book combines adventurous with the unexpected at every turn and ends with a return to reality. It has a strong presence of suspense which she said moves the story forward as the reader is drawn into the adventure of the little traveller.
Suiyikai is a student of Holotoli School in Dimapur. He is said to have written the ‘book’ when he was 8 years old. He is the grandson of former speaker of the Nagaland legislative Assembly, Neiba Ndang.
Publishers of the book, Barkweaver Publications, also issued a press release informing that it had “given out” the book, which was released by the chief minister.
The chief minister is a “pioneer of Naga literature” the press release asserted. He ‘expressed his enjoyment of the book,’ the publishers claimed. “He told the gathering that he himself had begun his literary career after the age of 40, managing to write 40 books. He hoped that Suiyikai who was starting at a very young age would be able to write ‘a hundred books’ in his lifetime.”
Suiyikai joins Sochumlo Ezung, child author of ‘Suki’s Magic Box,’ to usher in a new generation of young Naga writers, the publishers stated.
My Birthday Adventure is currently selling at the Barkweaver Days event at Ozone café. It will be made available at book stores in Kohima and ilandlo.com, the press release added.
