DPDB Mon recommends Vision Document 2030

Dimapur, July 28: The Mon District Planning & Development Board meeting was held under the chairmanship of N. Thongwang Konyak, Chairman DPDB Mon at DC’s conference hall on July 27.
Welcoming the DPDB members present, the chairperson briefed on the Vision Document 2030 and appealed to the members to come forward with innovative ideas and suggestions for inclusion in the vision documents.
The Deputy Commissioner welcomed and thanked the elected members for their presences and requested them to motivate the officers through their exhortation. Briefing on last meeting minutes he highlighted various activities taken up by the DPDB and the Mission ‘I Love My Mon Town’ (ILMMT) in the district.
Suggesting various ways and means for development of the district he appealed to the elected members to extend their cooperation and support through their regular participation in the DPDB. Honje also highlighted on landslides and windstorm accompanied by hailstorm that devastated the crops in various parts of the district. He informed that a concert was organized in aid of landslide victims of Mon town and urged the elected members to make contributions to assist the homeless landslide victims of Mon town.
Exhorting both the officers and his elected colleagues to perform their respective duties and responsibility sincerely for the welfare of the people, Minister for RD & REPA, C.L John appealed to fill the gap between the officers and the legislatures.To ensure positive result of the various Government activities in the district John urged the Government officers to work collectively under the banner of the Officers Club, Mon. He particularly urged the local officers to take the lead and play a vital role to ensure safety and harmony of the officers posted in the district. He maintained that serving and working for the backward people should be considered as privilege and a blessing. He urged the officers not to send their subordinate officers to represent the DPDB meeting where crucial discussion and decision are made. He urged the Heads of Offices of revenue departments to work sincerely and contribute towards progress of the Government.
Parliamentary Secretary, Sericulture & Home Guards,E.E. Pangteang said that posting of Government officers to Mon district should not be considered as punishment and appealed to the officers to work with sincerity and dedication for upliftment of the district.
Advisor Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency – NEPED, Naiba Konyak in his speech thanked the Deputy Commissioner for initiating various developmental activities and maintaining peaceful law and order in the district. He also thanked the DPDB Mon for recommending various proposals submitted by the SDPDB, Tobu and appealed to every department to contribute towards Vision Document.
MLA Pohwang Konyak exhorted the officers to perform their duties by being present in their respective place of posting. He asserted that some officers are found to be absent from their posting place for months neglecting their duty and advised them to retrospect and rededicate to their profession to serve the people.
Parl. Secy. CAWD, Yollow and MLA Noke also spoke and exhorted the officers. Temlei Konyak, Lecture, Wangkhao college presented a PowerPoint on the activities of the mission ILMMT. Besides the activities done by the various sub-committees Temlei also highlighted on the areas of concern such as proper dumping site, Parking site, Proper drains and Retaining walls, proper market site, etc for proper management for clean and sanitized environment. Plantation of decorative trees by each and every resident in their homes in Mon town and need for Botanical and Children’s Park were also discussed.
A DIPR report said, after lengthy discussion on the strategies of vision documents with special focus on proper roads and other means of transportations and communications, livelihood, education, health & water sanitations, etc. the board recommended vision document 2030 of the district.
Grand in aid to Mount Longnam School, Longching; Recognition of Yin-ang School, Aboi; Post creation for appointment of linguistic teachers; Registration of ‘Care Your Neighbour Charitable Trust” Tizit town and Registration of Jakphang Farmer’s Union were discussed and recommended to their respective authorities for approval.
