Dimapur, April 18 (EMN): Downhill (DH) mountain bike racing-one of the most exciting and spectacular formats of cycling in the world which pushes rider’s skill and fitness to the very limits of what’s possible, is geared up to be part of Moatsu-Mong, festival of the Ao Naga Tribe which is celebrated in the month of May.
The event dubbed as “Nagaland Downhill Championship” organised by Trail Hounds Cycling Club will witness competitors from Nagaland battle it out with the winner to be crowned as the “Fastest Naga” mentioned a press note from the club.
‘The downhill mountain bike racing is a true test of man and machine as riders will tackle through steep, rough terrain with jumps, drops, rock gardens and other obstacles’ maintained the Club President Atoba Longkumer and General Secretary Tzudiyong Jamir.
According to Trail Hounds Cycling Club this will be the first time in the history of Nagaland Mountain Biking where Riders will be ranked according to their performances, mainly to create a sense of competition among themselves, motivate and reward them.
‘The most exciting part of this event is that it will be a part of the Biggest Festival of the Ao-Naga Tribe, Moatsu – Mong and it will be an added attraction to the festival’ conveyed Longkumer and Jamir. Participants will not only get to race but also get a taste of our rich cultural festival, they added.
Following are the requirements and details for interested participants:
1. Personal Mountain Bike (Please note that exchange of bike among participants will not be entertained)
2. Compulsory Full Face Helmet and gloves.
3. Registration fee of Rs. 1000/- to be paid on the reporting day on May 1, 2017.
About the DH track:
• Location – Chuchuyimpang Village
• Length – 2kms of Downhill
• Features – 90% Single Track with some drops, jumps and steep inclines.
