Don Bosco launches skill training for youth

Dimapur, Feb. 26: The 20th batch skill training for unemployed youth was inaugurated at Don Bosco Tech AIDA centre today.

Dr. Lanunsangla Tzudir, Chief Editor and Proprietor of Heritage Publishing House, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In her address, Dr. Lanunsangla said, “Unemployment and unemployability are the major problems that we face today. I always feel that skill based education is the only way to address the issue of unemployment problem.” She further added, “to run business or industry we need good policy makers, honest civil servants and good politicians; but it is skilled people who support the major part of the economy.”

Dr. Lanunsangla encouraged the trainees to take the training seriously. She also appreciated the parents for sending their wards to attend the skill training.

Father CT Varghese, Rector of Don Bosco Dimapur, reminded the trainees that they are “undergoing a transition from indiscipline to disciplined life, laziness to hardwork.” He advised them to move away from addiction to bad habits to addiction to self discipline.

Amos Ekka, State coordinator for Don Bosco Tech operations, shared on the work of Don Bosco Tech in India and in Dimapur region. He said Don Bosco Tech is committed to skilling of youth taking advantage of the opportunities available currently. As India is going to be the skill capital of the world, he said youth, particularly from Northeast, do not miss the bus. Stating that youth from Northeast are second to none, he said Don Bosco Tech wants them to compete and excel with their counterparts in mainland India.

Ms. Jessica Sumi welcomed the gathering, while Ganesh shared his life testimony. The audiences were enthralled by Konyak and Yimchunger folk dances, Sumi and Chakesang folk songs performed by trainees. Ms Ajano delivered the vote of thanks.

Bath 20 of skill training for unemployed youth of Nagaland started on January 23 with 96 trainees from 17 different tribes of Northeast. Training is imparted in domains such as hospitality – food and beverage service, hospitality – hair dressing and hospitality – beauty and wellness. Don Bosco Tech AIDA centre has trained 1381and placed 1300 in last 6 years.
