Dimapur, July 13: The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) provided free transportation to students writing a departmental examination in Kohima on Saturday.
The organisation’s charity was a one-way free bus service from Dimapur to Kohima, on July 13.
Two bus services from the travel services Network Travels were provided for free to students who went to Kohima to write for the state services examinations. Besides, another bus, a Nagaland State Transport (NST) bus, was reserved for students on payment.

Leaders of the DNSU told Eastern Mirror that the union came up with the idea to provide the transportation as some students left for Kohima in advance fearing they might miss out on the examination as there was shortage of taxi service.

“As a student body we thought it was our responsibility that the aspirant students do not miss out on the opportunity because of shortage of transportation and (the union) approached the Network Travels to provide transportation for one-day, which they without hesitating obliged to do so and supported DNSU for which the DNSU is grateful,’ DNSU leaders said.

The organisation said also that the NST department and its yardmaster were kind enough to reserve some seats for students on first priority. This service was on ‘payment mode.’

Leaders of the students have expressed gratitude to Network Travels for supporting the initiative and providing two buses for free.

Likewise, the union expressed gratitude to the NST department for reserving seats for students on priority. The charity from the travel agencies benefitted around 100 students who could avail the services.
