Dimapur, July 16 (EMN): The back-breaking effort of the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) for a dumping free zone project and the Online Trade Licence Payment (OTLP) gateway came to a realisation on Mon (July 16). Lauding DMC’s effort on these projects, advisor of power department, Tovihoto Ayemi, has termed it as one of the “biggest” achievement of the council.

The two functions held at different places were inaugurated by the advisor. The proposed declaration programme on dumping free zone outside Rama Krishna Mission in Duncan Basti was held in the afternoon owing to heavy downpour in the morning, while the inauguration of OTLP was held at DBIdI hall in Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Dimapur.

Speaking about the benefits of the OTLP, Ayemi asserted that, ‘such initiative will ease the hardships of the business community,’ adding ‘DMC and business are like two sides of the same coins.’ Ayemi, who was also the former chairman of DMC, highlighted on the plight of the traders at the time of licence renewal, new enrolments, and payment. He recalled, ‘traders have to stand in long queue on hot days to get their documents done.’ Assuring them of saving their time and energy, he has assured all possible assistance to benefit the business community. While raising concerns at the poor listing of the state’s cleanliness status in the country, he has assured working on it to improve the ranking.

While reassuring to take initiative by collaborating with the department in concern to do something on the ranking, Ayemi, however, solicited strong public support.
“One should not depend on DMC alone but be responsible in keeping the town clean,’ he said adding ‘together we can do it.’

Talking about the dumping free zone, Ayemi remarked that it is a “beautiful transformation.” He heaped praises on DMC for the commendable job despite only with a handful of staff. He further encouraged the gathering to contribute on their part as the council is doing their job. Ayemi also appeal to the leaders to encourage their family members and extend all possible help in making Dimapur a clean city and a peaceful place to live in.

Director of Pathfinders Trust of Nagaland, Vitono Gugu Haralu, presided over the function, while the prayer of dedication was said by Imnatoshi, associate pastor of Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo.
