DLSA conducts legal activities

Kohima: Kohima District Legal Service Authority (KDLSA), led by V. Theyo Retainer Lawyer High Court Kohima Bench, Temsu Walling and Wapangiengla visited the state Mental Hospital and interacted with Dr. Wapang and team and patients. The team had a fruitful deliberation of the various provisions under the Mental Health Act.
Phek: On the occasion of International Women’s Day celebration in Phek, N. Ezung, district and session judge and chairman of Phek DLSA spoke on women rights guaranteed under the Constitution of India and Acts of Parliament and the roles and functions of legal services authority. Ezung also challenged the women to come out and seek the legal rights accorded to them under various provisions of law.Kiphire: Kiphire District legal Service Authority, led by its Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary M.T. Therieh, along with Para Legal Volunteers and Panel Lawyers, visited District Jail Kiphire and interacted with the under trial prisoners, and assured to take up the immediate needs of the Jail. Later the Under Trial Review Committee (UTRC) comprising of the District Administration and the Police had their review meeting led by the Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary Kiphire DLSA and resolved to immediately take up the issues as regards to the condition of the Jail and the prisoners with the concern authority.
Meanwhile, it has informed that Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) will be conducting district wise orientation training for Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and panel lawyers from March 11 at Dimapur and March 16 at Zunheboto, March 18 at Wokha, March 24 at Longleng, March 25 at Mokokchung, March 24 at Peren, March 29 at Phek, March 30 at Kiphire, April 1 at Tuensang and April 7 at Kohima. The time has been scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the District Court Building. The training will be imparted by NSLSA master trainers and legal aid counsel.
The training will mainly focus on the practical expects of lodging an FIR/ RTI etc. MV Act/ Consumer Act/ Crime Against Women Children/ Human Trafficking/ Prisoners Rights/ NALSA and welfare schemes of both the state and central government.
NSLSA has invited all those who desire to enroll themselves as PLVs to attend the training at their respective district Head Quarters.
