Dimapur, June 14 (EMN): A day-long district level workshop on ‘Empowering Panchayati Raj Institutions Spatially’ (Epris), an asset mapping and activity planning was held in Kohima on June 14.
A press updates from DIPR on Thursday informed that Epris was an outreach programme by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). It was initiated with an aim to assist the village panchayati raj institutions and village development boards in making developmental plans, implementation, monitoring, and utilisation of data base prepared with space-based inputs.
Speaking on the occasion, deputy commissioner of Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, explained that the workshop was to step forward towards day-to-day departmental activities. He expounded that the idea of organising the programme was to get the best result out of any activity.
Observing that most of the government departments’ approach has become more of a person centric rather than system centric in planning and execution process, he remarked that the same working system has been repeated without taking into account whether it would be beneficial for the larger section.
The DC also stated that the workshop was initiated to leverage the existing technology for the best functioning of the department.
‘We should be the one to be the first mover of technology and synching the technology with all the activities, and once the system is in place it will be beneficial for all and the functioning of department,’ he added.
Also talking about the phobia of adopting new technology, he encouraged all to adapt with the changing technology and make the best of it. He exuded confidence that there would be better level of efficiency in the working system with the adaptation of new technology.
NGISRSC project director of planning and coordination department, Mhathung Kithan, has presented power point on Bhuvan Panchayat Portal and milestone of Epris and highlighted in detail the aims of Apris. NGISRSC project scientist Aoyala also spoke on the topic ‘asset mapping using bhuvan panchayat mobile application.’
‘Activity planning under bhuvan panchayat portal (hands on)’ was presented by Chubawati, analyst, and Moatemjen, project scientist. The vote of thanks was proposed by senior analyst NGISRSC, Nouneseno Sekhose.
