Dismayed Over the Issue that Upraised During the Konyak Loa-Ong Mo 2017

As a Konyak youth I would like to share some points, not in favour nor against any particular political party/ group or individuals but for the interest of our community. I myself was present there on 29th -09-17 to celebrate our festival at the Local ground Mon Town, was very excited seeing our Chief Minister followed by the Home minister of Nagaland followed by some elected members of Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

With keen interest, I have waited with great expectations to hear from our Honourable Home Minister of Nagaland, hoping he would motivate a youth like me and all our people present there to celebrate the festival, encouraging us to uphold our customs and traditions, paving a way out to love and not to forget our traditions to the younger generations at that auspicious moment during our festival.

But, With due respect to our Honourable Home Minister, The speech he delivered has made me feel like I was attending some political rally or election campaign, which has completely twisted the minds and approach of the general people present there to celebrate the festival. For the people were there to celebrate Loa-Ong Mo, not to choose their political party or group nor to select their candidates for the upcoming election.

And to get it clear for bereaved family of our MLA Lt. Kiyanilie Peseyie and the NPF Mon Div.(Dr.Shurozielie) that Y. Patton has Not mentioned the name of Lt .Kiyanilie Peseyie in his speech. I assume the NPF Mon.Div (Shurhuzielie) were offended by the words mentioning the figure of MLA’s 48-12 and “ out of (twelve)12 one died and only eleven remained”. Opine that the Mon Div NPF have referred “one died” to implicitly mention Lt.Kianilie.

In the interest of the grieving family members who appealed to all parties to refrain from raking up the issue any further, and to consider that the Lao-ong Mo is a recurring festival of the konyak community henceforth to kindly let us observe our festival without any delusion.

Therefore as a genuine konyak urging all the end to kindly find the solution as the wise and the great leaders of the state and the political parties as expected from you, and not to take the name of the Konyak Loa-Ong Mo festival as bait or for the benefits of any political parties and groups. And, regardless of parties political leaders should stop the practice of using the platforms of such traditional festivals for their political interest.
