Diphu organises first poetry festival

Diphu, March 22 (EMN): A one day first Diphu Poetry Festival was organised by Jambili Literary Foundation (JLF) at Rangsina Sarpo Auditorium in Lorulangso on Wed. March 21.
More than 65 poets including college students, youths and writers presented their poems.
With the theme: ‘Bringing together ignited minds to promote literature-calling all aspiring poets and bring the youths closer to literature,’ the festival was organised in collaboration with Karbi Lammet Amei-Karbi literary body, Karbi Culture Society and Karbi Tokbang Aterank-Karbi Writer’s Club.
The poetry competition was divided into three languages Karbi, English and Assamese.
In Karbi section there were 43, in English 47 and in Assamese 25 participants.
The poet’s meet was also divided into three languages; Karbi poet’s meet, English poet’s meet and Assamese poet’s meet.
In Karbi poet’s meet there were 10 participants, who recited their poems. Among them were Deben Timung, Phulmoti Teronpi, Saising Rongpi, Bijoy Teron, Kamsing Ingti, Jorsing Bey, Lila D. Teron, Mangalsing Taro, Khorsing Engti and Gandhi Tokbi. Former MLA Chandra Sing Terang inaugurated the meet. Lunse Timung, eminent writer chaired the meeting.
During English Poet’s Meet persons like Joysing Tokbi, Dipali Amphi, Roselyn Taropi, Atanu Dey, Karon Hansepi, assistant professor, HOD English, DGC, Machurina Hussain and Kabeen Teronpi recited their own composed poems. Assistant Professor, department of English, AUDC, Dr. BC Dash inaugurated the meet, while former Dy. Secretary, KAAC and eminent writer Dhaneswar Ingti chaired the meet.
In Assamese Poet’s meet there were six invited poets Khagen Ingti, Chandra Sing Terang, Manju Teronpi, Kamini Bora, Manju Hazarika and Putul Chetia reciting their self composed poems. Assistant professor, department of Assamese, AUDC, Dr. Hiramanna Das was the inaugurator, while eminent writer Sar-et Hanse chaired the meeting.
In the poem competition in Karbi language former EM, KAAC Surjyo Rongphar bagged the first prize, followed by Jina Lethepi of Langmili in the second and Longsing Teron of Longpai, West Karbi Anglong in the third place.
While in English category Alonka Beypi of Ruksasen from Diphu bagged the first prize with Struggle Phangcho of Howraghat in second and Hirobjyoti Gogoi of Jorhat in third place respectively.
In Assamese category Smita Bhuya of Nagaon bagged the first prize followed by Dhaniram Tisso in second and Diphu Govt. College student Nayan Tanti in third place respectively.
