Dimapur women SHGs trained in food processing

Dimapur, Sep. 25 (EMN): With an aim to make them financially self-reliant, fifteen women representatives from 10 Self-Help Groups (SHG) from different localities of Dimapur II were trained on how to start their own small-scale ginger candy and pineapple juice processing units during a week long programme from Sep. 19-25.

A press release received here informed that the training was funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India (GoI) and Skill India GoI in association with Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY)  programme under National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) and State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Nagaland and conducted by Zatara Pvt. Ltd.

During the training programme, the women were imparted knowledge on food preservation, processing, packaging, FSSAI standards and regulations branding and marketing of their products.

The resource persons were Sentinaro Alley and Washipong Longkumer from Zatara and Sentibenla and Tzubentula from ATMA Dimapur, informed the release.

The Zatara Pvt. Ltd thanked the central government ministries, MANAGE, SAMETI and ATMA Dimapur for their support and providing the SHGs a stepping stone towards financial independence, the release further stated.
