Dimapur police cracks HSRP racket

Dimapur, April 5 (EMN): The Anti Vehicle Theft Squad (AVTS) of the Dimapur Police has busted a racket involving unauthorised issue distribution of the High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) and its usage in vehicles with fake registration.
A press release from the public relations officer (PRO) of Dimapur police on Wednesday informed that the authorities have arrested two persons in this connection. “The AVTS while investigating cases of fake registration found in some vehicles seized unearthed upon the racket and in the process have arrested two persons so far. It has been revealed that there may many vehicles plying with fake registration on HSRP.“The two arrested person have been identified as (I) Neisakholie Sanchu s/o Zaneituo Sanchu of Touphema village, Kohima and resident of 4th Mile, Dimapur. He is an employee of SHIMNIT Company. (II) Sanjay Thapa s/o Santapir Thapa of Darjeeling and resident of Kuda village, Dimapur. He is a former employee of SHIMNIT Company,” the police statement informed.
“It may be mentioned that all vehicles registered with the concerned (sic) District Transport Office are required to use the HSRP and, the latter is supplied by a contracted firm SHIMNIT. The company with its head quarters at Mumbai also has a branch office in Dimapur attached to the DTO, Dimapur,” it stated.
According to the PRO, Dimapur police was investigating the involvement of other persons and the vehicles plying with fake registered HSRP. “That, the racket is a serious security breach and shall also take up the matter with the concerned (sic) department,” it informed.
