Dimapur Gorkha community commemorates 204th Bhanu Jayanti

Dimapur, July 13 (EMN): The Gorkha Students’ Union Dimapur (GSUD) commemorated the 204th Bhanu Jayanti celebration with the theme “our culture our identity” on Fri. July 13 at Town hall in Dimapur.
The event was graced by People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) minister of state Susank Ghatraj as the special guest.
Ghatraj in his address exhorted the community for investment on youths as they are the pillars of the society. He also said that since Gorkhas are living in Nagaland they should live in unity with the Nagas’.
Also Ghatraj called on the community to honour and uphold their mother tongue Nepali which was one of the official language and advocated that their language should be communicated by all not only verbally but in writings as well. He exhorted the youths to take up their duties responsibly as they will be the future leaders of the society.
Lauding the GSUD for their commendable efforts, he encouraged them to continue with the same zeal.
Dimapur Gorkha Union chairman Kumar Subba, in his address, reminded the students’ contribution made by Bhanu Bhakta Acharya in bringing the Gorkha Community together by translating narrations in Nepali.
Bhanu Bhakta Acharya was considered as Nepal’s first poet who translated the great epic “Ramayana” from Sanskrit to Nepali and Bhanu Jayanti is commemorated on July 13 every year to celebrate and honour the birthday of Bhanu Bhakta Acharya.
