Dimapur GBs elect new team

DDGBA new team and NGBF members after the election at Nagaland Science Centre, Dimapur, on January 22.

 

Dimapur, Jan. 22 (EMN): Dimapur District GBs’ Association (DDGBA) has elected new team of office bearers for the tenure 2019-2023 on January 22 at Nagaland Science Centre in the presence of Nagaland GBs’ Federation (NGBF) officials as observers.

The new team is headed by Khehovi Chophi (head GB of Hoito village) as president, Theyehuyi Veyie as vice president, Hokishe Zhimomi and Rajalal Naiding (minority) as joint secretaries, G Kami as treasurer, R Changkum (ENPO) as information secretary, and Lhovishe Achumi as convenor judicial.

A joint press release issued by Tokuho Suhoi Neho and W Kholie Kapfo stated that the remaining vacant posts would be fill up by the new team, adding the handing over of charge would be held on January 25 in its office, 5th Mile at 10 am.

Speaking on the occasion, NGBF president Shali Konyak said GBs should be united and work for the welfare of the Naga people. Stating that GBs’ service is voluntary, he encouraged the members to continue upholding the organisation and work for the good of the people.

He further advised the members not to harbour tribal feelings but work for oneness within the Naga society.

Also speaking on the occasion, NGBF general secretary Shikuto Zhalipu stated that DDGBA is not a tribal organisation but an association of GBs from eight administrative units irrespective of tribes. He has sought better understanding among the GBs and work for the common good of the people.

Outgoing president, Tokuho Suhoi Neho thanked the old executive members for their cooperation during his tenure. Referring to the present situation, he was optimistic that the new team would do justice for the GBs of the district.

President elect Khehovi Chophi has thanked the executives for nominating and electing him unopposed. He has assured his best to work for the betterment of GBs and eight administrative units.

Outgoing vice president, Kholie Kapfo delivered the vote of thanks.
