Dimapur dist tops in Aadhaar enrolment

Dimapur, August 21 (EMN): The latest data released by the Unique Identification Authority of India through its regional office show that Dimapur district tops the list of Aadhaar enrolment with 79.79 per cent of the population already enrolled.
Dimapur district has a total enrolment of 3,29,721 at the top followed by Kohima district with 1,77,377 enrolments as of August 21 2017.
Peren has the lowest enrolment both in the total number of enrolments as well as percentage with just 28,376 enrolments comprising 27.32 per cent.
The overall percentage of Aadhaar enrolment in the state is currently at 55.60 per cent.
The data was released through a press release from the UIDAI office along with a request to citizens to avail the service of the Aadhaar enrolment centres in the state.
The press release added that in Nagaland, due to the “difficult terrain” and “lack of motorable roads”, Aadhaar Enrolment Machines have been set up by the at DC offices, ADC offices, SDO offices and other administrative offices with the office of the Commissioner Nagaland as the nodal department.
The current round of enrolment process in the state which the UIDAI termed is as a “mopping up operation” is being undertaken to ensure maximum coverage.
“As per Section 7 of Aadhaar Act 2016 Central Government or State Government may use Aadhaar as an identifier for delivery of various subsidy/benefit/services to the residents for which the expenditure is incurred from or the receipt there from form part of, the Consolidated Fund of India,” the press release further added.Box
