Kohima, April 24 (EMN): The first meeting of Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA) Committee of the Department of Higher Education was held on April 21 in the conference hall of the directorate.
During the meeting, Convenor of AAA Committee and Additional Director for Higher Education, Kuholi Chishi, impressed upon the need to have a structural system of internal and external review to monitor and evaluate higher education institutions. She further implored that appreciation of achievements and subsequent suggestions and review would improve the quality of teaching, research, administration, curriculum and extra-curricular activities.
State Project Director, RUSA (Rashtriya Uchctar Shiksha Abhiyan), Menuokholie Kire stressed on the need to formally prepare guidelines for AAA and to effectively implement AAA as a tool in the institutions of higher education for continuous quality improvement. Kire further highlighted that the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, RUSA, and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) lay emphasis on the regular conduct of AAA in order to help achieve excellence in the Higher Education sector.
The AAA Committee members also deliberated on framing the AAA guidelines, external academic audit and the need to constantly evaluate implementation of the activities of the institutions and bridge the gaps, if any, with suitable measures to ensure overall improvement of functional efficiency of the colleges. The meeting was chaired by the convenor of AAA Committee and Additional Director for Higher Education, Kuholi Chishi, wherein she also highlighted the objectives of the meeting.
