Dimapur, Sep. 22: A1 Power Play came from two goals down to beat Titan SCC at the ongoing Dimapur Football League (DFL) on Sat. Sep. 22 at the DDSC stadium in Dimapur.

Two goals on either side of the match from striker David Konyak gave Titan SCC two goals lead and looked like they were well on their way to victory. The first goal was scored in the 28th minute when a clearance from the goalkeeper of A1 Power Play bounced off David Konyak into the back of the net. The second goal was scored within a minute into the second half when Konyak scored a brace, through a header.

However, at the quarter-hour mark of the second half, the game was reversed to A1 Power Play’s advantage, when Vickyioukho Miosallhou of SCC was sent off for dissent against the referee’s decision to award a penalty to A1. The ensuing spot kick was taken by Letmokai, who nonchalantly slotted the ball on the right hand corner of the goal.

The one-man extra advantage and the ensuing goal rejuvenated and provided extra energy to A1 Power Play who went all out and took the game on its head. However, the Titans remained true to their name and refused to be let down by a man down. The A1 Power Play toiled hard to find the equaliser in the 87th minute when Mezibui tried his luck from distance to score a magnificent goal.

A1 were not done still, so did the resistance of the Titans. When the match looked like it was going to end up in stalemate—with the additional five minutes running out—Kito had the final word as he sent his teammates to celebrations with a goal from just inside the penalty area to seal the game in favour of A1 Power Play 3-2.

In the first match of the day Ekhyo FC defeated Chanan FC 2-0. The first goal was scored by Meribemo inside the 15 minutes of the first half, while the second goal came from Woben in the 48th minute.

Before the commencement of the second match, a programme was conducted during which the match patron of the day, Tito Yepthomi encouraged the players to be disciplined stating that it will lead them to become successful players in the future. He also urged them to work hard and give full time to football to compete with the likes of other professional players in the future.

The match patron had promised to donate cash prizes for the following category: best goalkeeper, best midfielder, highest scorer, and man of the tournament.

Day-5 of DFL will witness Titan SCC lock horns against Dorian’s Society, while Ekhyo FC will take on United V&S. The matches will be played on September 28.
