Kohima, April 18 (EMN): A design consultancy named the Chilpaufe was inaugurated on April 17 in Kohima. The establishment is located at Kapfo’s Building, Jail colony, in Kohima.
Chilpaufe is an acronym for civil, handicrafts, interior, landscape, product, architecture, urban planning, furniture, and electronics, said the consultancy’s director Neikemhiezo Rupreo.
It is a joint venture of six technical members, alumni of Lovely Professional University at Phagwara in Punjab. The members are Neikemhiezo Riipreo, Rokovito Kotsu, Moianla Jathy, Vikono Zinyii, Niwe Mero, and Chubalenla Pongen.

The primary task of the consultancy is work that includes paperwork and site construction. It envisages employing both technical and non-technical workforce and to work together in design and construction, the director said.

Rupreo added that the firm aims to eradicate ‘compromise’ in design and to keep a constant site check to ensure 99% blueprint work is translated practically. He hoped to encourage other people too, particularly youths, to work and ‘earn by themselves instead of depending on their parents.’

The firm is committed to spreading awareness about building construction where the “mistry” (masons) take the advantage role as well as become the designer in many ways, he said.

“The Chilpaufe Design Consultancy is a conglomerate of designers coming together to work with passion, commitment and cause for the society,” Rupreo asserted.

As young team, the firm looks forward to working with different people. However, the ‘first preference’ will be given to alumni from Lovely Professional University, permanent workers or freelancers, he added.

A local entrepreneur in Kohima, Yanpvuo Kikon, felt there is a need to create more job opportunities for the youths. He expressed appreciation for the initiative to open the consultancy to ‘provide a source of income to others.’

“Let us be realistic and face the practical aspects of life,” Kikon opined. He was of the view that the new initiative would be an eye opener for youths especially when it comes to their heavy dependence on white collar jobs.
