Departments meet for Village Well-Being & Cleanliness Fortnight

Kohima, Sep. 6 (EMN): In view of the ‘Gram Samridhi Evam Swachhta Pakhwada campaign,’ a Village Well-Being and Cleanliness Fortnight scheduled to be held across the State from October 1 to 15, a meeting was held on September 5 at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall with Rural Development and other line departments.
Chairing the meeting, Chief Secretary, Pankaj Kumar urged upon all line departments to give instructions to their respective departments to carry out awareness campaigns and publicize their concerned departmental schemes in accordance with the action plan.
He also requested all departments to appoint one nodal officer and submit the names along with other details to RD department to form a core committee to coordinate and monitor the fortnight campaign.
Joint Secretary RD, Orenthung Lotha while highlighting the tentative action plan for the fortnight said various activities will be carried out by the several line departments. He informed that the fortnight will be marked by creating awareness through bulk SMS and whatsapp followed by village council/VDB meeting in all 1238 villages on October 2. He also said district level meeting with RD, NRLM, PWD, PHED, Social Welfare, Agri, Veterinary and Education department will be conducted in all the 11 districts from October 3-8 while sanitation campaign will be covered from October 9-12. The celebration will culminate with a State Level VDB Conference 2017 on October 13 at Kohima followed by film show in all 74 blocks and action taken report on October 14-15
The joint secretary also mentioned that a Core Team Committee will be formed to coordinate and monitor the campaign and will have to make a report at the end of the campaign to be submitted to the Ministry.
Gram Samridhi Evam Swachhta Pakhwada is an initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development in partnership with several other ministries to take up programmes to seek to create an environment for clean villages, participation of people in Gram Sabha meetings and take up issues for development for livelihood plans for households etc.
