Kohima, June 14 (EMN): Announcing that the department of Fisheries will be undergoing a drastic change from the current year, director of Fisheries Kevisa Kense has said that the name of the department will soon be ‘department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources’.
The change of name, he implied, was necessitated by ‘wider horizons’ opening up in the field. He was hopeful that the proposal would be put up in the next Cabinet meeting for approval. He said this during the 21st general meeting of the Nagaland Fisheries Technical Association (NFTA) held at government fish farm in Thizama on June 14.
Speaking as the special invitee, Kense also informed that there will be a major reshuffle both within the ministerial as well as the technical staff and asked all to be mentally prepared to be posted anywhere across the state.
The call for major reshuffle, he stated was required due to the overstaffing in some districts and shortage of staff in some districts.Towards this, Kense asserted that there will be no biasness in the reshuffling which, he informed will be on lottery system and requested all to take over without any objection once the order is out. He also strongly asserted that it will not entertain any complaints or recommendations whatsoever on the postings.
“Once the order is out you should be proud to be posted to some remote places and exhibit your calibre” stated Kense. He further emphasised that one should not always try to stick only to their respective districts but have wider perspectives to improve oneself as well as the department, lest the face of the department be defaced again.
Also noting the acute shortage of vehicles for the district officers, he assured that procurement of the vehicles will be soon arranged by the department.
The director also sought the full cooperation from all and was optimistic one day ‘instead of feeling timid to be associated with the fishery department, we can all held our heads high to be associated with one of the best performing departments’.
During the meeting ‘awards for best performing technical staff 2016-28’ were given away to 11 technical staffs from eleven districts while Wabang Longkumer was acknowledged on being conferred with the Governor’s Commendation Certificate on the 68th Republic Day celebration 2017.
Kense also congratulated the awardees for their outstanding performance and opined that their achievements will be a big boost to others towards generating encouragement to work hand in glove with each other and make the department proud.
