Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22
Every holy feelings in us is a depiction of God’s desire in us and it is a clear sign of the Holy Spirit working in us. The acts of our ways reflects the desires within and if the desire are righteous so will our ways be. The temptation to sin will surely come as it did with Eve in the Garden of Eden but God has also given us the authority to resist it and the choice to either accept or reject it is up to us. The sins which comes against us may come in seductive ways and it is for our eyes to see it as God makes us see. The moments of adultery David had with Bathsheba clearly paints a picture of the realities of temptations. In the Scripture it is written “But each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full grown, gives birth to death”. (James 1:14-15) The acts are often gradual and it worms their ways into homes and gain control over weak willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires (2nd Timothy 3:6) As Long as we line in this sin shined world the temptation to sin will surely come but the more established we are the truth, the greater our love for God will be.Notice this: The temptation of David and Joseph are different in nature. It is to our knowledge that David called Bathsheba for sex, while in regard to Joseph’s trials it was Potiphar’s wife who entice him for sex. The rejection of her desires must have infuriated her and if ever she is in hell she will be writhing in pain and agony, not in pleasure. Since she had a husband she could have laid with him but since her desire was perverse she tried to seduce a man of God to sin. This is how Satan works but for God’s people who lives in God’s wisdom, the powers of it will be demolished as Samson made a mockery of the Palestinians with his God given power. And the choice to either be like the Palestinians or to be like Samson is up to us and we trust everyone who reads this to live in security, salvation and in the wisdom of God. Though there may come a time in the lives of young boys and girls to be curious or conscious about the natural, the greater desires of God must be honored. Trust this, the holy one must not allow anyone to shoulder then unless it is their husband or it is for a holy cause. The truth needs to be told and it is our desire for all of God’s people to keep themselves blameless and holy till the coming of our Lord Jesus. The desire to sin will surely come but the desire to love God must be greater. The church prays for everyone to honour God as they rise higher in love , faith and in purity. God is the answer to everything.
