Dimapur, Jan. 29 (EMN): Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) today accorded a warm welcome to the new deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol, at Hotel Saramati.

DCCI president, Akashe K Zhimomi, in his introductory note, welcomed the new DC on behalf of all the business community. Briefing the DC on the activities of DCCI, he also highlighted on the grievances and problems the business community faced in their everyday life.

While extending support and cooperation of the business community to the district administration, Akashe hoped that the relationship between the district administration and business community would be further strengthened under the capable leadership of the new DC. DCCI further solicited the guidance and wisdom of the DC to make Dimapur more prosperous and a happier place to live in.

The new DC, in his address, acknowledged the contributions of the business community in making Dimapur the commercial hub of the state. He stated that the actions of DCCI would affect every section of society right from the top to the common man. Zehol also reminded that Dimapur’s trade and business has ripple effects in Manipur, upper Assam and parts of Arunachal Pradesh.

Urging DCCI to be good facilitators, he said if the Dimapur business community remained aloof, then no neighbouring states would be willing to do business with Dimapur. On the price difference of essential commodities and other goods between Dimapur and neighbouring towns just across the border in Assam, Zehol suggested DCCI to start with a small step to boost the trust of consumers – to lower the price of at least one essential commodity or goods. He was of the view that the small initiative would be a big step in alleviating the burden of consumers in the whole state.

DCCI general secretary, Sanjay Sethi, chaired the meeting.
