DCCI president Hokivi Chishi passes away

Dimapur, August 4 (EMN): The president of Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Hokivi Chishi passed away following a brief illness at Eden Medical Centre Dimapur around 8.40 am on Friday. He was 51 years and is survived by his wife, daughter and two sons.
Hokivi had served in various organisations and till his breath he was the president of New Market Business Owners’ Association (NMBOA), DCCI, Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI), advisor of Business Association of Nagas (BAN), chief patron of Dimapur Motor Sports Club and founding member of Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) movement.
The funeral service will be held at his private residence in Sematilla colony at Dimapur on Saturday at 8 am.

Rio condoles: Lok Sabha MP, Neiphiu Rio has expressed shock on learning of the sudden demise of Hokivi Chishi.
“In my personal interactions with him over the years, I found him to be a committed and sincere young leader who involved himself in various social and political activities, especially at the grassroots level”, Rio said in a condolence message.
The MP described late Chishi as a recognised personality who always displayed a tireless zeal to work for the people, particularly the weaker sections of the society, who remained connected with the people and emphasised on empowerment of the youth and the business community of the state’s commercial hub.
‘This is evident from the fact that he was an elected member of the Dimapur Municipal Council from 2004 to 2009 and also served as the president of DCCI and NMBOA till his last breath’, Rio said, adding that the Sumi community in particular, and the Nagas in general, have been left with a void that will be felt by all sections of the society with his demise.
Rio and his family extended their deepest condolences to members of the bereaved family.

Zeliang condoles: Chief Minister, TR Zeliang expressed shock over the demise of Hokivi Chishi, and described him as a well established businessman, a social worker and an upright Naga leader.
Chishi had sacrificed his ‘prime time’ working for the welfare of not only the Sumi Community but the Nagas in general, acknowledged Zeliang in a condolence message. He conveyed his sincere condolences to his family members, friends and colleagues.

Shops to remain close today

The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Business Association of Nagas (BAN), Nagaland Medicine Dealers Association (NMDA), East Dimapur Business Association (EDBA), NMBOA and Chumukedima Chamber of Commerce have expressed grief at the unfortunate demise of the president of Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Hokivi Chishi.
As a mark of respect to the departed soul, they have called upon all its members to keep their business establishments in Dimapur/Chumukedima closed till 12 noon on Saturday. The business organisations have requested the public to bear with the inconveniences.
