DC seeks assistance to restore affected offices

Kohima, Feb. 24: The functioning of government offices, which was hit extensively from the State-wide bandh for almost a month, continued to pick up motion to make up for the lost time on Friday.

In the State capital, a coordination meeting of all the heads of offices under Kohima district and the heads of offices affected or damaged during the February 2 mob violence, was held today in the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) conference hall, Kohima, for assessment of losses and onward submission to the government.
DC Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, who convened the meeting, informed that 30 offices were damaged including both government and NGOs. Stating that February 2 incident was unfortunate where many offices were burned down, he pointed out that it was a huge loss not only for the affected offices but for the State and the public as well with many hard works getting destroyed.

Asserting that the time now calls for teamwork, he called upon all the departments for co-operation and assistance towards the affected departments and establishments to help them get back on track. He asked all the heads of offices to take the matter seriously and identify spare rooms in their respective office buildings and to submit a report by Saturday evening so as to help the affected offices to function temporarily.

Meanwhile, ADC Kohima, Lithrongla Tongpi, announced that some office items were recovered by the Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) during the February 2 incident adding they were being kept under the custody of the DBs Court. She informed the affected offices to verify the items and collect them.

The heads of the affected establishments delivered a report of the losses and highlighted their grievances during the meeting.
