The second day of the Hornbill International Rock Contest (HIRC) got off to a start with Assam band Ambush belting out Rap Metal numbers.

Ambush were followed by VIshnu (West Bengal), Vikrit (Ranchi, Jharkhand), Rongpin (Diphu, Assam), Lost Icons (Delhi), Her Illegal Practice (Sikkim), UDX (Dimapur, Nagaland), Meraki (Darjeeling, West Bengal).

But the biggest crowd puller was reserved for popular local band UDX, who have been generating excitement over social media since they got selected in the auditions held at Kohima earlier in November.

The eight bands scheduled to perform today includes- the last evening of Prelims, are Granite Yard (Sikkim), Looking Glass (Pune), Since 90s (Dimapur), Stereotype (Kohima), Tripp Pilots (Thane, Maharashtra), Perfect Strangers (Bangalore), Highway 69 (Ranchi, Jharkhand) and Existence (Ranchi, Jharkhand)

Judges Derek Julien, Sonam Sherpa and Among Jamir will declare the name of the nine finalists after the last band takes the bow on Friday. The nine finalists will battle it out – 25 minutes each for performance – on December 8 for the top honours in the country’s highest prize money rock contest.
