DAPCC meet held in Mon

Deputy Commissioner, Mon, W Honje Konyak, has called upon the government officials, civil societies, churches, students bodies, NGOs, medical and Para-medics to effectively implement the HIV prevention and control programme in the district.
The DC made the remarks at the meeting of Mon District AIDS Prevention and Control Committee (DAPCC) in his office chamber.Longyim Tzudir, District Programme Officer, DAPCU Mon, had highlighted the services provided through facility centres (NSACS support) and key activities carried out by DAPCU in collaboration with partners in the first quarter i.e April to June 2015. He thanked the students’ union, churches, civil societies, partner NGOs, government officials and many well wishers for extending cooperation in carrying out HIV and AIDS prevention and control programme in the district. He also acknowledged the Legislators’ Forum on AIDS (LFA) Nagaland for supporting DAPCU in mobilizing support towards HIV and AIDS response and further mentioned that the participation of legislators had been a great help in making the campaign more comprehensive.
Dr. Uma Konyak, CMO, Mon, had stressed that more efforts should be given to increase the number of HIV test even among the general population, for which mass awareness programme should be conducted.
Dr. Medemmayang, MS, District Hospital Mon, while emphasising on the need of involvement of people living with HIV, said we need to encourage them to come forward to access care and treatment facilities and to involve in addressing issues for bringing a better outcome.
Sashi, Secretary, MUN, briefly shared on how OST programme had benefited the drug users (IDUs) and added that there was a need of OST centres at least in TI implementing areas in Mon district. In regard to non involvement of people living with HIV to address issues, he appealed to the concern department (PLHIV Network) to extend support to make District Level Network of Mon functional.
During open discussion, Yangba K, Superintendent of Police, Mon, Dr. Yingnei K, MO i/c of LAC+, G Temjei K, ICTC Counsellor, DH and Yeihwang, Honorary Secretary, IRCS Mon, have briefly shared their views on better implementation of HIV and AIDS prevention, care and treatment programme in the district.
